Developer and General Contractor of a affordable rental housing development in two mid-rise buildings, in conjunction with SOSNA. The property is situated three blocks from South Broad Street’s Avenue of the Arts. Previously vacant for 25 years, the blighted site of the old Children’s Hospital Child Guidance Center was converted into luxury type apartments for low- and moderate-income persons in the arts as well as neighborhood residents. The Community Room in the South Building hosts a computer training course directed by Drexel University, as well as a children’s photography program taught by the residents. Financed by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia and Meridian Bank, this project qualified for an allocation of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program from PHFA. Equity for this project was provided directly by Cargill Corporation. Completed in March 1996.
